What is a pip (no fluff)

BasicsSEO

A pip is the classic unit of price change on many FX pairs. On four-decimal pairs (classic EUR/USD reading), one pip is often 0.0001. JPY pairs use different conventions — always check the instrument.

Knowing the word does not pay bills. What matters is turning pips into money and risk: how many pips to the stop? How much is each pip worth at your size? Use SafeCandle calculators to train that bridge.

Do not confuse pip with “guaranteed profit”. Twenty pips for and twenty against is routine. Without stop and size, pip is just a pretty word in a chat group.

Next step: open pip and risk calculators. Run a 15–30 pip stop at 1% of a fictional account.
